This is a special Rednesday collage made from my little girl Hallmark Doll Album. Going back through all of my family photographs, I found this one of my most-favorite-of-all- time Uncle Edwin and me about the time I was probably starting to collect these little cards.
Each of them has its own page and the back half fits through a slit in the page. Since they fold at the top, you are able to stand them up. I am missing 3 cards for this book and would love to find old ones for sale: Peter Piper, A Little Girl with a Little Curl, and Bobby Shaftoe. I continue to search EBay and Amazon hoping they will show up at a reasonable price, but up to now I have had no luck. It would be so nice if I could finally complete the collection as I’d love to give it to my little granddaughter, Eloise. I can still remember how I would save my pennies and other change so I could buy another card for the collection, but most of the time my family would give them to me on special occasions. The cards are absolutely precious, and I keep thinking how cute they would be if I were to scan and copy them to make one of Elizabeth’s banners. They are probably the only truly vintage cards I have other than my paper dolls, but many of those I actually made by hand. One of these days I will have to upload them as they are pretty neat, too.
Here are closeups of the cards in the collage.
Ann of England did not belong in this book which means this slot is for the third card I am missing...the one for Bobby Shaftoe.
Hello! I have two of these cards (Cinderella and Polly Flinders), and since I had no idea who Bobby Shaftoe was, I did a google image search and found one here. http://www.papergoodies.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1221. It says the feather has been replaced, and it is $9.50 (good price?), might not be how you want to get it, but just had to share. I love these cards!
ReplyDeleteOK, don't think I'm odd, but I found another card. This time on etsy, the little girl with a curl. http://www.etsy.com/listing/52486438/vintage-a-story-land-doll-card-the?ref=sr_list_6&ga_search_query=Little+Girl+With+a+Curl+&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title

Hi, I was told by one of my readers to come and find your blog, because you collect these cards. (You have a few more than I do... I just recently started to collect them.) Aren't they the sweetest? I collect paperdolls which is how I came to find these in the first place. Stop by sometime.
