Watery Wednesday #112 ~ 11-3-10

One of my greatest pleasures is watching my son and my 5 year old granddaughter playing in the creek where he played as a child. Eloise is fearless and loves jumping from rock to rock. On Sunday they first skipped rocks across the surface of the water, and then they went hopping from rock to rock down the creek. This was a great way to end our wonderful 3 days at Douthat State Park. As always, it was sad and lonely here at the homeplace after they left for their drive home, but that was a MUST because Eloise HAD to go “trick or treating” that night.

Mosaic Monday ~ Douthat State Park Hike

Douthat State Park
Millboro, VA

Every chance Buddy and I get, we go over the mountain about 30 minutes from our home to the most popular state park in VA. It is absolutely beautiful there. We go there for day hikes on the beautiful trails, and we go about three times a year and stay in the old 1930’s CCC cabins.  We will be going back over Halloween weekend for three nights, and we will be joined by Gene, his wife, Patricia, and our 5 year old granddaughter, Eloise, from Richmond, VA. Baga and GrandBud  CAN”T WAIT! We have such a good time when they go with us. I hope you enjoy this selection of shots of the lake and the scenery taken today as he hiked all around the lake. There was not as much color as we would have liked,  but it was still calm, serene, and very beautiful. What fall colors were there were something to behold.

I am linking up this week with Mary Carroll’s Monday Mosaics at Little Red House. Be sure to stop by Mary’s and look at all the mosaics for this week. You won’t be disappointed. They are always beautiful.

Genie Joins the Watery Wednesday Following

Since I absolutely love the water, it is only fitting that I would find another theme day called Watery Wednesdays. Since becoming so enamored with my Canon Rebel camera, I have been searching out photography themed blogs, and that is how I came across this wonderful one.  Stop by and look at the entries. They are really impressive.

This picture was taken at Sandbridge Beach, VA, three weeks ago at our family reunion.  I was tickled to death when I saw how I’d captured the movement of the waves with the clouds floating close behind.  We had the most beautiful 7 days you could imagine...the week before the hurricane came up the east coast. PErfect timing!

I was amazed when I visited the blog for the first time today and saw how many talented photographers were taking part in the postings.  I am really exciting about joining in with them though I feel like I have a long longs ways to go to be able to show pictures as beautifully composed as theirs.  I am truly a novice.

So to all of you who are a part of this group, a Happy Watery Wednesday to all of you.
