My Doodling Journal
 
 I press every flower petal I can find in a very large and old wine book
about the wines of the world. It is heavy and really does the job well.

Sorry about the dark spots. This is in my Doddle Journal on the tan paper.
I have not figured out the correct way to take pictures of the pages, yet.
We think the top leaf is from an elm from all the trees at back of house. 
Bud and I think the second one comes  from one of our maple trees. 
The dark spots looking greenish/blue spots and are here and there all over the leaf.
As you can seem it also has a hole in it.

This is the first time I have ever tried to sketch  mandala freehand
so please excuse the wavy lines. It was the best I could do.

7-30-16 ~ A Good Week ~ Poison Ivy Better

 This is a drawing I made from John's at Sinbad and I on the Loose @blogspot.com 

 trying to learn the stippling technique. The picture was taken with a 50mm lens on my Canon because of John's suggestion. It was not cropped. The background does not look white because I was using  a Swarthmore journal with wonderful tan pages that are amazingly sturdy. 

 My idea of some abstract flowers with stippling.
I love doing pieces like this while the TV is on.

 This is a watercolor of a Grecian Windflower from the "Seeing Flowers" book.

 A watercolor of Buddy's first redish sunflower in the garden.

 Do you remember the song Tiptoe Through the Tulips by Tiny Tim and his ukulele?

I promise you...there is NO poison ivy in this tulip bed :-)

This is where I go to walk when I am in town.
 It is a beautiful spot with a nice path and LOTS of shade.

This is where I go to walk when I have to go to town. There is a nice sandy path, lots of shade, and the beautiful Maury River right there to enjoy. It makes for happy walking in hot weather.

I Finished My Pink Posey Quilt and Reached My Goal! HURRAH!

I worked and worked over the weekend, and last night at 11:47 PM, I FINISHED IT, and I remembered to sign it on the back using left overs of my binding for the borders. This afternoon I hung it on the wall in my bedroom so I can see it each morning when I awaken. I can’t believe I did it!  Never have I had the nerve to attempt to stipple a quilt using the darning foot with the feed dogs down on my Brother.  I’ve either quilted by the “stitch in the ditch” method or done it all by hand. All I read kept telling me I was going to have to take the plunge and just do it if I was ever going to get the knack of free hand stippling.  I sort of cheated a bit - I used invisible thread so all my mess-ups would not be so obvious.  Only at the very end did I try stitching using the on/off button and not the foot pedal...and I think that is what I should have done from the beginning to end up with my stitches all the same length. I did much better that way, and it seems I was also able to get the rhythm of moving the fabric up, down, and all around.  The key MUST be to keep the speed remaining the same and NOT pulling or pushing the fabric harder in one spot than the other.  If any quilters read this and have some suggestions-corrections-additions that will help me, PLEASE let me hear from you.  I would love to hear from you, and I won’t get my feeling hurt if you tell me I have got it all wrong. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to photograph completed quilts, I would love to know that, too. Anyway, now I can go to sleep tonight and not worry if I am going to finish it by the weekend because I did it.  I am such a happy little old quilter today!
