Day 27 ~ Mission Impossible

This week I set out to try drawing mundane items around and near my art table using black ink. I did not put the little saying with them that you see with the usual etegami, but I was doing this as practice.I am having trouble finding a brush that I like to use with the ink that does not separate.

These are the watercolors I did.

My daddy worked as an engineer until he was 100. At 91 they all gave him the usual birthday office party and one of the engineers drew a caricature of him. Well, I decided to see if I could do the same thing. He always wore Lily Pulitzer men's shirts and trousers and bow ties. He was never without his hat because he was totally bald. He lived to be 100 1/2.

The little girl here is a actually a paper doll I made and watercolored. I hooked the her arms and legs to the body with picture wire. It was fun to make. I did not have room to put the real name of my elementary school on the building so I decided to use mine...:-)

365 Days Spirit Art Journaling

Here are some things I have done this week. I have been down and under with really BAD allergies, and have spent ages feeling like I have the flu and a breathing disorder. Bud cannot stand the wheezing. He says he can hear it across the room. I am allergic to EVERYTHING pretty outside and anything with just or mold inside at this time of the year...and especially Trouble his cat. He is the worst.  I cannot go near him.

My Etemani Cards for the Week

Bud's Romas are still coming in but all that are left are green.

 He brought me in another purple sweet pepper, and this one was lots bigger that the others but still small. I decided to try to draw it again. This time I made it as a note card on watercolor paper.

 This is my first attempt at trying to draw a Marigold. Bud loves them, and he plants them all over the place. This was the best I could do.

 This is my doodle for the week. I felt so crummy that I laid in bed and doodled affirmations trying to pull myself up by the bootstraps. The stippling does not show up well here, but it does on the paper.

 This is a watercolor of a little girls of days long past with her popcorn while sitting on the fence. I am trying to learn to paint lips so this is a beginner's try.

8-26-16 ~ Some Photography and My Weekly Art Posts

 So, I just had to let see that we even rate an Interstate sign 

directing you to our neck of the woods.

Unfortunately, our man that cuts our lower 3 acres grass has been out of town for several weeks, so the grass was very, very high when he got here yesterday. This morning I went out barefooted to take some photos while the early morning shadows were so pretty, and I found myself in a not so good situation for someone with a horrible allergy to grasses. Well, I got the pictures but payed a high price sneezing, itching, and weezing all day long.I am linking this picture of my 77 year old ugly feet in the freshly cut grass with:

Fall Is on Its Way

This is a picture I painted for Rose Swalls from Pics and Piecing. The two of us have become very dear friends and correspond daily. She has put up two posts about how Roger is doing, and it is such a heart breaker. There now appears to be more damage than they thought at first. But he is trying, and he is making progress. Please remember her and her beloved Roger, Sarah and Rachel their daughters, and their precious granddaughter, Lorelei, in your thoughts and prayers.

The idea of the 'Woof Woof' correctly spelled words is not my own. I found them while doing a search of eye chart images on the internet, but it was my idea to use the red glasses (from Mischief Circus) and the misspelling of the words for the left eye. I was thinking about going to the eye doctor and not being able to see worth a hoot in that eye. My life needs 'clarity' all throughout it...not just with my eyes.

My Doodling Journal
 
 I press every flower petal I can find in a very large and old wine book
about the wines of the world. It is heavy and really does the job well.

Sorry about the dark spots. This is in my Doddle Journal on the tan paper.
I have not figured out the correct way to take pictures of the pages, yet.
We think the top leaf is from an elm from all the trees at back of house. 
Bud and I think the second one comes  from one of our maple trees. 
The dark spots looking greenish/blue spots and are here and there all over the leaf.
As you can seem it also has a hole in it.

This is the first time I have ever tried to sketch  mandala freehand
so please excuse the wavy lines. It was the best I could do.

8-5-16 ~ Summertime on the Creek

 It was not such a hot day today so I decided to take out my watercolor paper and my Koi paints with a rag and a water brush. Got me a chair with a table on either side for all of my stuff - and tea - and started painting the grass in front of me, the creek, the bank, and finally the tree with its leaves and sky poking thru its head. Just as I was really into it, the skies got dark and the rains returned. Inside I went having to depend upon my memory. You can see the sky peeping through as well as the sandy  back to the sides and under the big tree, and you can see the creek and the grass on the side where I was sitting. I still need to work on my profiles. They are so hard for me. Every time I go and sit out here, I really do marvel how I have one of Nature's wonders right in my front yard.

7-30-16 ~ A Good Week ~ Poison Ivy Better

 This is a drawing I made from John's at Sinbad and I on the Loose @blogspot.com 

 trying to learn the stippling technique. The picture was taken with a 50mm lens on my Canon because of John's suggestion. It was not cropped. The background does not look white because I was using  a Swarthmore journal with wonderful tan pages that are amazingly sturdy. 

 My idea of some abstract flowers with stippling.
I love doing pieces like this while the TV is on.
