The Red Skies of August

I am so tired of the cold and winds of winter, I decided to post 4 of the fabulous sunrises we experienced last August during our family reunion at Virginia Beach. All I can say is....they were awesome! If you are wondering...these shots were taken within a very short period of time. The sky was changing with the blink of my eye.

Stop by Mary Carroll’s "Little Red House” to see beautiful mosaics from all around the world.

Alphabe Thursday ~ 10-28-10 ~ The Letter “F”

"F" Stands for Family Reunion Fun

This summer our family came together for one of our best family reunions ever. One son and his family flew in from the Pacific Northwest and my daughter and her family drove down from the Eastern Shore. My other son  his family, our best friend, Grand Bud and I were all from here in Virginia.

Sadly the trip had a tragic start. One of my granddaughter's cats was killed Friday night before we were all leaving on Saturday. There was time for a little funeral for our beloved Shirley who left behind her sister, Laverne and her sad family. Then we were off in a caravan...3 cars: 2 sons and their families in 2 cars, Grand Bud and me in a 3rd, and our best friend in a 4th.

All 16 of us had FUN in our BIG house
We had FUN playing in the ocean.
We had FUN playing inside.
We had FUN sitting, walking, and playing on the beach.
We had FUN eating.
We had FUN sightseeing.
We just had FUN being together.

It was absolutely the most wonderful week Grandma Baga and Grand Bud could ever ask for. Now we just have to wait 3 more years for the next one....it seems like a long time now, but if it is like the past, the days, months, and years will fly by and suddenly we will all be together again.

Yes, "F" this week is for Family Reunion Fun!

Here are some of my favorite photos from this most memorable gathering.

Genie Joins the Watery Wednesday Following

Since I absolutely love the water, it is only fitting that I would find another theme day called Watery Wednesdays. Since becoming so enamored with my Canon Rebel camera, I have been searching out photography themed blogs, and that is how I came across this wonderful one.  Stop by and look at the entries. They are really impressive.

This picture was taken at Sandbridge Beach, VA, three weeks ago at our family reunion.  I was tickled to death when I saw how I’d captured the movement of the waves with the clouds floating close behind.  We had the most beautiful 7 days you could imagine...the week before the hurricane came up the east coast. PErfect timing!

I was amazed when I visited the blog for the first time today and saw how many talented photographers were taking part in the postings.  I am really exciting about joining in with them though I feel like I have a long longs ways to go to be able to show pictures as beautifully composed as theirs.  I am truly a novice.

So to all of you who are a part of this group, a Happy Watery Wednesday to all of you.

Mosaic Monday

It’s another Mosaic Monday over at Mary’s Little Red House. Last week there were 89 fabulous mosaics posted.  If you haven’t stopped by for a visit, be sure to take some time for one.  You will not be disappointed.

My collection this week is from our FR at the Sandbridge Beach, VA, three weeks ago.  Eloise and Thomas are both five years old and are like twins....they like the same things, are both a bit wild and wacky, and they even look alike. It seems like they were must have been meant for each other. They’re the children of my two sons and are like two peas in a pod always making silly faces and into good mischief.  Thomas lives on Bainbridge Island, WA, which is entirely too far away to suit us...and, yes, he is a very curly red head.  Eloise, fortunately, is only two and a half hours from us in Richmond...that is a GOOD thing. To be around them always puts big grins on their Baga’s and GrandBud’s faces. They are absolutely the cutest children together we have ever seen, and it’s a heartbreaker we have to wait another three years to see them together again.

Skywatch Friday

For quite a while now I have been following LV’s blog,  Thoughts from Meme’s Corner, and have been fascinated by her beautiful pictures of the skies around her.  I, too, am fascinated with the way the sky and clouds can change from hour to hour and day to day so have decided to join in on the fun over at Skywatch Fridays.

My first contribution is a sunrise I experienced near Virginia Beach, VA, when our family was all together for a wonderful reunion.  I was the only one who would get up very early each morning to see the sunrises.  These pictures are of one of the most beautiful of the week and the changes took place over a period of about 25 minutes or so.  I took the first one at 6:11 A.M.

Mosaic Mondays - Our Beach Sandcastles

Each week over at Little Red House , we post a mosaic of some of our favorite photos. Please drop by and look at some of the wonderful entries. They are amazing.

When our family gets together at the beach for a family reunion, the men, boys, and small children build intricate sandcastles each and everyday using all kids of tools ranging from large and small shovels to children’s, carpenter, and brick mason tools.  These are photos of my two favorites from last week’s 2010 FR: one is of a huge pyramid and the other the Sphinx.  These was mammoth and people staying all around us would watch the construction during the day and then return at night with flashlights to watch the tide rush in around them.  This reunion tradition is one of our best.  The men, boys, and children do all the work and the women sit in those beach chairs behind and WATCH! As always, a happy Mosaic Monday to all of you.

Back from the Beach M.E. Monday

Sunday night is here again so it’s time to post my M.E.Monday goody for the week.  If any of you out there in our wonderful bloggersphere love Mary Elgelbreit as much as we do, please hop on over to Vicki’s blog at Cherry Chick and join along with the rest of us with our M.E. Mondays. What better to put a happy smile on your face than a bit of Mary Elgelbreit in your life.

Here is the puzzle from our 2010 at-the-beach family reunion, and  I think it is the cutest we have ever done. After looking at it multiple times, I decided to have everyone sign it so we would be able to pull it out in years to come and see the old signatures.  It only took a day and a half to finish because we have some hard core puzzle piecing boys and men in our family. We all did our parts, but the guys did most of the hard work. Click on it to enlarge. As always....happy M.E. Monday to all of you from HOME!
